Bonargrove AFC can today announce their first major signing of the season- Mark Gorgon

Our picture above shows Coach Cam(left) handing over the Bonargrove team polo shirt to new signing Mark Gorgon(right)

Bonargrove's first major signing this season is Mark Gorgon from fierce rivals Dundee Social. This is sure to stir things up ahead of the new campaign after Bonar also defeated them in the Alex Smith trophy final. Gorgon was influential and outstanding under Kevin Vials Dundee Social team. After they pushed Douglas Ath all the way to the tension Tuesday showdown they fell short of winning the league.Defeat in the cup final meant social had a trophy less season. With Bonargrove completing the historic cup double, Coach Cameron made it clear to the Bonargrove board that this was his number one target after Turo's shock apparent retirement.(this is still to be confirmed). After weeks of negotiating the deal, it was signed last night and Mark received his Bonargrove team wear, much to his delight. This is only the start of what looks to be a very busy time for Bonargrove in the transfer market. Big name players are expected to be signed as Bonargrove look to contest the league this year and retain their cups.

An ecstatic coach Cameron commented on his first signing for the season " Mark's move to Dundee Social never worked out for him as he always felt second best, so when i heard of his contract coming to an end, i felt the time was right to make him part of the double winning family. I'm sure his experience and ability will help take the club to the next level of football domination. He’ll bring a bit of composure to our team,He’ll be a good focus for the team in terms of points of defending and attacking".
"This is only the start of our big name signings" exclaimed coach Cam before trying to seal some more deals for big name players.

Upon becoming a Bonargrove player, Mark told Bonargrove website: "Joining Bonargrove AFC is a dream come true for me. I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours in the years to come. I've handled expectation and pressure throughout my life - I'm not scared of that. That's why I'm here," This is perhaps the last step in my career and the biggest club in the amateur football. I feel I can develop in the way I want here and the way I've always wanted. That's the most important thing." he said moments after signing his contract at pub in Dundee.

Bonargrove's most successful Manager Mark Scrimgeour received the call from coach Cameron late last night confirming the signing and said to us he was delighted to finally capture the elegant player and admitted: "This is a key signing. Mark is one of the best and most exciting defenders in Dundee Sunday morning football."His style and ability will give the team a different dimension and I’m sure he will be a popular player with the fans.“It’s a fantastic piece of business by the club. We've signed a very clever player; great vision, balance, he’s a good tackler and he has presence. That’s not just in terms of his height, he’s got an overall presence about him".

Bonargrove's Commercial Executive Director Marc Stanton added "Mark is delighted to have fulfilled his dream of coming here. He’s looking forward to being part of a team that’ll be challenging for honours on all fronts."

At the time of this being announced, we contacted Dundee Social Manager Kevin Vials about this breaking news but he was unavailable for comment.

Bonargrove 4 Douglas Ath 3 - Bonargrove McGuire Trophy Winners

After a dramatic penalty shootout win against Michelin, Bonar returned to caird park hoping to seal a historic cup double against the newly crowned league champions. After last weeks no team v Social everyone wondered who would be there. All eyes were on who would turn up. After being promised a run out Mr asda Dunny appeared. Murray "blisters" Campbell returned for only his 3rd appearance of this campaign and Lee Cochrane returned to the bench.

Bonar started well and never gave douglas time to settle. Bonar had chances to take the lead but couldnt take them. Douglas started to come into the match more and scored after a shocking lapse in concentration by Cafu. Some good defending from all players kept Bonar in the match.
A change of tactics by scrim and coach mourinho seemed to pay off. Bonar started dominating the game but then................. poor defending from a throw in let Douglas double their advantage. Bonar started fighting and tackling harder, but it looked like nothing would happen. Chances came and went. Bonar's lifeline then came, a penalty for hand-ball and ascot converted it. Bonar threw the Glens toilet and sink at douglas hoping for the equaliser. A last minute corner from Dunny ended up in the back of the net to wild celebrating scenes from the bonar faithful.

In extra time bonar now fancied their chances but a mix up from scorer ascot and deek let douglas reclaim their advantage. Lee cochrane's wonder strike again brought Bonar back level. In second half of extra time Douglas were under extreme pressure. Bonar eventually took the the lead through a sheva bullet header. With only minutes remaining, Bonar's suicidal defending gave douglas a penalty. As the ball hit the fintry houses and only seconds remaining bonar knew it was another cup win.

Jublient scenes at the end as coach cam and shev lifted the McGuire Trophy. All the squad headed back to the glens to be part of the historic bonagrove afc cup double winning night.
All eyes now on coach Cam and gaffer Scrim to see what players can be recruited for next year!!!
