Angus Thistle 3 Bonargrove 5

This report comes courtesy of Mark "Corfu" Stanton.

After Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Cutty, Bonar really needed to win this one to get back up the league. Few call offs from Sunday, sicknote Hynds, ive got a job Dunny and many more.

This meant Scrim and Andy had the task of getting a team. Young Scrim and Jenks started with Stants at the unusual position of right midfield. That wasn't the biggest surprise, Chico and Rada turned up.

Gale force winds and heavy rain meant this was going to be tough. Bonar got off to a good start when Robbie scored and it got better when Stants was brought down after a run into the box. Veteran Turo converted the kick with ease.
Wind was causing chaos and a long kick from their keeper caught out the Bonar defence and Deko was beaten.

Scrim got stripped for the 2nd half as Rada the moth got cold and came off, Scrim's gardening gloves were on show!!!
Bonar caught out the Thistle defence right at the start and shocked the Bonar management team when Stants scored. Scrim's cross/shot/pass landed to Stants and he executed it well. To be fair I was due it!!

Young Scrim made it 4-1 with a bullet chest goal as he didnt want to mess up his hair. Thistle pulled one back but Andy threw on Sheva who slotted home with ease. Bubblin in dubblin Gav made a rare mistake to let Thistle score. Deko let everyone know what he thought.

Tackles were now flying and getting tasty but Bonar had the chances to make the scoreline better. Sheva, Lee and another cracking mazie from Stants should've made it comfortable. Good team perfomance and Bonar deserved the win and never looked like losing it!! Sandys next on Thursday, a good result there sets us up pretty nicely for Blackpool trip at weekend!!!

Deko- 7 good perfomance for conditions
Turo- 8 learnt right back from Stants
Gav- 7 at fault for their goal
Young Scrim- 8 always guaranteed good performance
Dazzie- 7 always trying
Stants- 8 due management a decent performance
Scotty- 8 solid in centre and for stirring it up
Jenks- 7 played well- never stopped
Robbie- 7 good workrate till injured
Chico -7 caused thier defence problems
Lee 7- worked well all match

Rada -3 moth
Scheva -6 decent goal and workrate
Scrim -7 for wearing the gayest gloves ever

Three Games Next Week

Sunday: Cutty Sark v. Bonar

Tuesday: Angus Thistle v. Bonar

Thursday: Bonar v. Sandys

Bonargrove 1 Lochee Central 5

This is what happens when you leave Andy Cameron in charge! The main talking points of the game were the 3 penalties awarded to Lochee and the 2 not given to Bonar. Well, also Scheva's misses.

Lochee had a chance to take the lead early on when Bean put the striker through on stand-in 'keeper Scotty and he was left with no option but to bring the advancing striker down. Scotty made amends though with a save that had the fans talking for days afterwards.

It didn't stay 0-0 for too long though as a simple cross from the right was finished right into the far corner by the striker despite the despairing dive of Scotty. The 2nd goal followed soon after when a fuck up in defence left the striker through on goal and he finished well. At 1-0 Nikita was taken down in the box and ridiculously the penalty wasn't given. Scheva missed two sitters too.

The second half was fairly even with Scotty pulling out a number of high quality saves but had no chance with two penalties and another neat finish from the Lochee striker. Nikita grabbed a late consolation with a good finish from a Scheva cross.

The highlight of the game was undoubtedly the performance of Scotty and in particular the penalty save and now rumours persist that Deek will have a hard time getting his number one shirt back.

Below is one of the many excellent saves Scotty made....

McGuire Cup: Bonargrove 5 Blackness 1

After last week's comedy boxing match against Burton, Bonar were back in cup action in the quarter finals of the McGuire against lower league Blackness in a game they were expected to win. As with last week, Bonar could only muster the bare 11 with a number of key men missing - Derek "Speroni" Petrie was up all night trying to get his goalie top on so he could replace Deek in the sticks and had a great game. Young Scrim and Robbie returned whilst Scotty, Lee and Nikita were notable absentees.

The game was boring. Blackness weren't up to much and were extremely lucky that a combination of bad passing/finishing and an inadequate referee meant that the scoreline stayed at 5. Scheva notched 4 to make him top scorer by a fair bit and Chico notched the other and the two linked up very well up top. Highlight of the game was Scrimmy bursting a gut to get into the box and when Scheva laid it on a plate for him he just fell over. Scrimmy can be seen in this picture controlling the ball.

Another semi-final for the Bonar boys, just need to get a few league points now.

Ratings courtesy of Andy Cameron:

Deko 8: Should be nicknamed 'The Wall'
Turo 6: Not bad for a man in his 50s
Scrimmy 4: Terrible shooting; tackling; and passing
Young Scrim 7: Very solid
Gav 6: Quite solid
Robbie 7: Energetic performance caused 'Ness troubles
Dunny 5: Haffahoff with haffaperformance
Ascot Dave 4: Sleeping
Stants 6: Hairy
Scheva 9: Prolific
Chico 8: Massive threat with pace and constant running

Can someone please remind me of scorers of Cutty and Harleys game please so I update Top Scorers? Ta.
